The Tiny Acrobat

I watched this little Golden-crowned Kinglet explore almost every limb of the tree searching for food. It hung on and contorted in every way trying to check every angle.

When it spotted prey on the limb below the Kinglet became excited and the gold crown started flashing orange.

It flew to the limb below and found what it was looking for.  A lot of energy expended for a little meal.

What a cutie! I'm still jealous!! *grin* Only birds that I am getting are about a gazillion goldfinches. I did have a bunch (small flock :-) ) of sapsuckers this morning.

I'm thankful that you are sharing your birds with me, Paula.

Thanks Liz. These are one of my favorite birds that winter over. They are such little cuties. I like the way their crown changes color when they get excited.

Hey Gladys, Glad to hear from you. I was getting a bit worried. These little guys like areas with lots of underbrush. I am not having many Goldfinches right now. I have a couple but not in the numbers I usually have. Sounds like they have moved down your way. I like the Sapsuckers. Not too many around.
